清明，是中国传统二十四节气中的第五个节气，也是传统的四大节日之一。于阳历每年4月4 – 6日交节。
《淮南子·天文训》记载：“春分后十五日，斗指乙，则清明风至。”另《岁时百问》记载：“万物生长此时，皆清洁而明净。故谓之清明。”清明时节，气清景明，万物皆显，因此得名。
如果你 “pin your hopes on something（把希望钉在某个东西上）”，这就意味着你一心指望这件事情会给你带来幸福或成功。人们使用这个表达可能是因为非常希望某件事情会成功，或者是因为其它事情都失败了，而这是唯一剩下的机会。在使用时，可以在 “pin your hopes on something” 中加上限定词 “all（所有的，全部的）”，即 “pin all your hopes on something”，意思是 “把你所有的希望都寄托在某件事情上”。
