Break one’s silence:
To voice one’s opinion or comment on something after initially avoiding doing so.

意为“打破沉默”,用来指 “某人在沉默了很长一段时间后发声,对一件非常重要或严重的事情进行解释或评论”。

例句
11 years later, the owner of the company decided to break her silence over why the company really failed.
11年后,这家公司的老板决定打破沉默,解释公司倒闭的真正原因。

He said he would never break his silence over what his wife said to him before she died.
